Some people just stand out in a crowd don’t they? They walk in a room and seem to bring a glow with them that people find so attractive and compelling in an undeniable way. They have what some people would call ‘charisma’ and people are pulled towards them like magnets or moths to a flame. They succeed, they have ‘the edge’, they always get the job and then the promotion, they are popular and people enjoy being in their presence. Do you know anyone like that? What is it that enables them to stand out and get noticed? Have you ever stopped to really consider that?
Here are a few useful NLP tips on how to create the light that people are so attracted to:
Physiology
Physiology refers to your body, the way you hold yourself, the way you sit or stand and all your conscious and unconscious movements. In NLP, one of our 5 Principles of Success which have been modelled from highly successful people, is to operate from a physiology of excellence. People who stand out in a crowd always stand tall, regardless of their stature. They push their shoulders back and hold their head up. You will never catch them with their chin on their chest or their eye line pointing towards the carpet. Their arms are relaxed by their side and they move with a gentle grace. They smile readily and their eyes are soft and inviting, probably because they are using Peripheral Vision, a skill that we teach during our NLP Practitioner Programme. Some people adopt this type of stance naturally, others learn it and you can.
Empowerment
The people you notice the most are people who feel empowered. First and foremost, they have taken responsibility for their outcomes. In NLP terminology we refer to this as being at ‘cause’ rather than at ‘effect’. People at the effect side of life have reasons and excuses for everything that they didn’t get in their life and everything they did get and didn’t want. They have given their personal power away to everyone and everything outside of themselves. On the other side of the equation, those who have chosen to be at cause have taken total and complete responsibility for all of their results. They are where they are right now because of them. They have complete access to their own personal power and they use it wisely.
Belief
Charismatic people have a strong and robust belief system that is self-fulfilling through a positive feedback loop. It is important that the beliefs we hold to be unequivocally true are positive and empowering. If we hold powerful and positive beliefs about ourselves and the world around us, then we are able to embrace confidence, motivation, energy and charisma. On the flip side of the coin, we have limiting beliefs. Limiting beliefs are those beliefs that hold us back and prevent us from moving forward in the world. They stifle us and keep us stuck where we are and often cause us to move backwards from our goals and desires. The thing about all beliefs is that they are not true, however, we behave as if they are, making them self-fulfilling prophesies. People that stand out and succeed generally have an established pattern of empowering beliefs operating at the unconscious level. Practitioners of NLP know how to remove limiting beliefs and how to install new empowering beliefs, quickly and easily.
Congruence
Internal balance and alignment are both important qualities of a stand-out individual. What do I mean by balance and alignment? Well, let’s consider for a moment a person who is incongruent. If you listen to the language that an incongruent person uses, you will probably hear statements like, ‘On the one hand I believe I am x and on the other hand I believe I am y’, or ‘Part of me believes x whilst another part of me believes y’. This type of linguistic content illustrates confusion, incongruence and misalignment. These people are having an argument with themselves 24/7, 365. Imagine how much energy it would take to argue constantly, it’s a lot! A congruent person is able to make great decisions, has conscious/unconscious alignment and surplus energy to apply to their goals. This accounts to the perceived glow they have when they light up the room, it comes from energy. We teach you how to achieve personal congruence during our NLP Practitioner Programme.
State Control
Finally, people who get noticed have a way of always being in an ‘up’ state. By state, I mean your emotional condition, whether you feel happy, sad, angry, motivated, guilty, empowered, fearful, energetic, hurt or ecstatic. Your emotions emerge from your unconscious mind and consciously becoming in control of how you feel is a skill learned during our NLP Practitioner Programme. NLP anchoring techniques allow you to access the most appropriate emotion instantly and to completely associate into it. In this way you can always be in the right emotional condition and this will positively affect your behaviour and your outcomes.
Imagine that you have learned how to perfect each of these five conditions of mind and body. Do you think people would notice, would you stand out in a crowd, would you light up a room? Yes, of course. You are your success and your success is you. It’s time to take control and become the you that you want to be. Join us on our forthcoming Enhanced NLP Coach Practitioner Certification Training and we will guide and nurture you, acting as your compass on your journey towards success.
